Media Player should read Album Art, while it should be ignored by Gallery

Showing Album Art has been a desire by music collectors and geeks since the abandonment of the CD shelf in favour music collection players, e.g. Rhythmbox, AmaroK, etc.

On Android Album Art needs to be named AlbumArt.jpg (incl capitalization important!). If the album covers are named this way, they will be ignored by the photo gallery. This works reliable on all my Android devices. Alternatively there can be way of setting a custom name for album art images, e.g. folder.jpg or cover.jpg.

I advocate a similar approach for Sailfish. First, get the album art to be shown at all. Second, make sure the cover pix do not cause a chaos in the photo gallery.

I am aware of the previous posts about this topic:

And other than reporting the problem, I am proposing a consistent way of doing it (hopefully allowing people to buy in and vote for it). I am fully open to more efficient and sophisticated suggestions. I suggest this post a a collection of ideas around the delicate topic of album art. One things is important: once Media on Jolla picks up the album art, it just looks beautiful.

One suggestion is to have a .music file in a folder means Gallery ignores all images in it and all sub-folders. This could be through the UI and/or shell.

The player could just display the first image it finds in the music file's folder and/or of the same name (up to the extension) for mix folders .

This is still a problem, and makes syncing pictures a hussle, when you have over 200 albums with cover art included.

Music players like foobar2000 can tag mp3 files with album art. Why can't the media app simply use those front covers? Alternatively, Jolla could tell the gallery to ignore all pictures named front.png or front.jpg etc. and show these as album art.
