The available interval settings to check for emails seem very arbitrary to me: 5 / 15 / 30 / 60 minutes and twice a day. Not even once a day is possible.

I suggest making a dialer available to select hours and minutes. Just like when setting a new alarm.

I'm using cron for that. https://together.jolla.com/question/16434/cronjob-on-sailfish/?answer=49662#post-id-49662

It's pretty nice since this way I can set different sync times for workdays/holidays/whtever and for different time of day, like sync fast on daytime, slower on evenings and not at all on nights.

Those are not arbitrary they are global slots defined to wake up the device when needed. Having a dialer like you suggest is a nice way to consume more battery, since syncs won't be aligned system-wide, making the device wake up more times at random intervals. IMO bad idea, also I don't see a use case for that, do you really need to sync email every 1h23m ? :D However once per day is a valid request.

I see what you mean. A single dialer just for the minutes would be sufficient. Compare Mozilla Thunderbird: A value between 1 and x minutes can be entered.

... and maybe this value should be made system wide.

Mozilla Thunderbird is a desktop client, you should compare with mobile clients were same issues will arise, but why is so important for you do define random value here ? just trying to understand the use case.

https://together.jolla.com/question/55379/idea-increase-in-the-syncronising-time-options-of-the-email/ Raises a similar point. Perhaps you can suggest 'Once in a Day' option. Personally, I dont think we need to have a dialer but perhaps could few common frequencies as options.
