[feature-request] Backup installed applications list and 3rd party applications' data
I just reseted my Jolla to factory settings. It was a bit of a hadache to restore it the way it was prior to the reset such as installed applications. Jolla could easily keep a list of applications that are installed on the account and allow user to install them on the device with a press of a button, alternatively this list can be kept and maintained on device if preferable. I would personally prefer a cloud solution as it will help populating the incomming tablet with my favourite apps.
Second thing: I had a bunch of passwords saved in some password managers, now all the data is gone. While I do have back up of most of the passwords, it would've been a lot easier if my Jolla had made backup of certain apps of my choosing. All 3rd party apps are supposed to save thir data in the default data location so backing those up wouldn't be much effort. The backup app just needs a way to allow user to select/set apps that need to be backed up.
Setting up the folders again which I had tuned to perfection previously was also a bit annoying. Having Sailfish backing this information up would also be a nice touch.
I agree. Ideally, restoring from a backup should return your phone to more or less the state it was in when you created the backup. As it works now, it only restores some parts.

Luckily there's not many 3rd party apps for me to backup and I can "winscp" my way around, but 3rd party application really should be able to hook themselves to backup... (App devs could do import-export-style functionality, too, but this feels like re-inventing the wheel that should be there.) Please consider developing this functionality, dear upstream sailors :)

I think APKs, native apps, app location including folders and names should be backed up.
One main reason people like the iphone and nobody really talks about it is the extreme ease with which to transition from phone A to newly bought phone B, obviously thats not just a convenience item but actually improves device sales due to lowering the barrier to upgrade with zero headaches.
