Hi.

I've recently updated my Jolla to the new update 1.1.1.27 and not without problem, resulting in having to perform a full reset becaouse of the first update crashing during update. After the full reset everythign went fine and the update worked fine, except for one thing: The speaker (not the phone speaker but the loud speaker) are not working anymore. Before the update it worked just fine and now it's just silent, soo I suspect it's a SW problem. Don't know if it have something too do with the phone not recognizing the TOH anymore? Is there anyone else that have experienced this and might have a solution?

Side questin about the update maybe someone have an answer on: At first I was unable to download the update even tho i had >2GB memory (phone said i had used 8 of 13.7 GB). Removing files soo i dropped down to 7GB usage allowed me to download the update, but resulted in the update crashing during reboot and freesing. Is there something more to this "Atleast 2GB memory" note? Fells like it really is more like "Not more than 6GB of the 13.7 GB used i.e. 7.7GB free"

Thankfull for all answers, stay afloat!

Cheers

Max

Hello, for your side question, looks like to be due to this severe btrfs issue: freeing space was probably enough for the download, but not for the update installation, which caused the failure. What was needed was a btrfs balance, sorry for that.

About the speaker problem, do you confirm that it doesn't work even after a restart and that the sound is working if you plug a headphone? My phone wasn't able to play sounds this morning because a pulseaudio process was stuck, I had to kill it. Otherwise I don't know.

Thanks for the answer on the side question, I'll keep it in mind at next update! For the sound I have tryed restarting the phone (with and wtihout TOH and alot of different combinations) without any luck. The sound works just perfect when I use headphones.

You can check if there is something wrong with the speaker by using the CSD tool (enter 'csd' in terminal, or just enter *#*#310#*#* in the phone dialer).

The only test I can find to test the speaker is the "Loudspeaker playback" and it's the same as before, silent. When I check NFC I can see that a cover is on, but it can find no NFC tag. Before the update the phone changed on/off the white theme that came with the white TOH. Soo might this have to due with something?.

Hi, Same here, but I can't say it's because of the update. After the update, I didn't change anything about speaker sound. But now, I'm speaker is off.

Remove the TOH, shutdown the phone, put it on a table and press with your hands the bottom part where the speaker stands. ...And my speaker is back!

I have the same problem.
The phone speaker works fine, although audio from the headphone works but the loud speakers do not work anymore. During playing music songs or calling someone, there is no sound out of the loud speaker.

I tried the steps from this link (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=92899) but they did not help me:

killall jolla-gallery
killall jolla-mediaplayer
systemctl-user stop pulseaudio.service
chown nemo:nemo /run/user/100000/pulse
systemctl-user start pulseaudio.service

Any ideas for solving the problem? regards matl

Hey @Matl, it seems like a hardware problem. Did you already seen this question: https://together.jolla.com/question/73144/speaker-problem-hardware-connector-and-solution/ ?:) Check out my comment there. :)

Umm, I am not sure that this should be an hardware problem. I really think it is a software problem. I had this issue a few times before. Once the alarm was not ringing, suddently all was working fine. I think yesterday or the day before I was also playing and listening to youtube videos.
Are there any way to test the funtion of the speakers or any other software hacks?

I can now confirm that it in my case turned out to be just a hardware problem. "Smacking" the phone repetently against my palm for about 50 times brought me the sound back again!

I tried that already, currently I hear silence. I will test it the next days again and again, maybe warming up and cooling down because of the weather will although bring the sound back.
