Even that the good old days are over and clouds are on everybody's mind. What do think about the possibility to add an "ftp account"?

There's no need to add any new account for it to work, as sftp (and scp, rsync and ssh) already exist in the device.
The easiest way is to use cron to trigger rsync of your desired data to your home server periodically, or you can use something like my cloudsync.sh (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=89875) to automatically sync your pictures to your server the moment you take the picture :)
Thank you for your reply. Why is an additional account not necessary? How can I configure it via my phone GUI? And no, a configuration via shell or script is not a appropriate solution ;-)
hongakonga ( 2015-01-01 11:16:19 +0300 )editYes, you are correct there, it does require you to log in the device shell to do it, but after that it is automatic and you do not need to ever do it again, if you so choose.
Creating a GUI application for such a small task is an overkill IMHO, it is so easy (and of course fun!) to do it in shell :)

I use pyinotify on my webserver to trigger build-scripts when Dropbox updates. Do you know of a simpler soloution for sailfish-os? Also: How do you get arround the issue of cron-tasks or systemd timed-services not starting because of the phone beeing asleep?

To your Ideas: 1. An upload option in the backup settings would be nice (this inclueds camera photos), maybe even scheduled. 2. SD card should be big enough 3. see point 1 4. FTP is not an good protocol to sync files. There are other solutions like BitTorrent Sync.
