Messages app features suggestions:

  1. option to enable/disable-cut diacritics in sms (diacritics use much more space and message has to be split to more parts, lacking information suggested in (2.), user has no idea how much it will cost and how many parts are going to be sent)

  2. sms message length & number of parts to be split to

Only the second part. The first part, an option to auto-convert accented characters to plain ASCII - is a feature request in its own right.

I personally think that if we had a character counter then we would not need the auti-convert but the OP may see it differently.

Vitaminj: basically... yes. If we merge these two requests, we get the whole idea behind. I think and hope that my request is clearer which makes the other one duplicate of mine :)))

However, it has more votes, so please guys, if you'd like to vote, vote on the request duplicated by mine.

This is well known feature on other platforms (past and present), I believe, that anybody who will implement it, won't overlook anything!

Pichlo: thanks for support! But I think that the auto-convert is must have anyway. I.e. if you copy/paste your notes (or some information from internet), you don't want to spend any time correcting characters, do you?

I actually got to this idea when trying to send a shopping list from my wife's Jolla notes (there's a bug when another Jolla refuse to receive shared notes). Copy/paste to messages and send as sms was the only option at the time. After that, we weren't sure how much from her credit we just spent...

That's a good point, I haven't thought of pasting text from a different app.
