Hi!

I have a Jolla phone with 1.1.1.27 running. I configured my IMAP account and everything except email deletion works.

If I delete a message in my INBOX it does not get deleted on the server side but vanished from my phone. Below I paste the debug logs from my phone when I press "delete" for an email. I am running an dovecot v2 server.

@AndreasB - What's the name of your trash folder in the server side ? In the device side do you have more than one trash folder ? When you say emails are not deleted in server side, do they still appear in Inbox folder ?

@VDVsx on the server side there is a folder named "Papierkorb". On the device side I have this "Papierkorb" folder and one named "Gelöschte Elemente". In "Gelöschte Elemente" I can find the mails I deleted from my phone.

When I say they are not deleted on server side, I mean that they still appear in the Inbox folder (on the server) but not on the phone.

@AndreasB I have two questions:

  1. Please create a new mailaccount at the same server and try to reproduce. Do you have the same problems?
  2. Are you using the Android email client "k9mail" sometimes?

@jukey 1. yes same problems with account recreation. 2. I used "k9mail" before I switched to Jolla, but since then I don't use it anymore. But I run offlineimap on my desktop pc to sync mails

Steps to solve the problem:

  1. Remove the email account from your Jolly phone (Settings->Accounts)
  2. Check all (not only the subscribed) IMAP folders on the server side using another client (e.g. Thunderbird).
  3. Make sure that there are no folders like IMAP.Trash or IMAP.Sent are created. If these kind of folders exist you can delete them. It seems there is a bug in the k9 mail client implementation for Android that causes the problem.
  4. Create a folder called Trash if that does not exist already within the root directory of your IMAP account.
  5. Recreate your email account on the Jolla phone.

Now deleted messages on the Jolla phone should be synchronised with the IMAP server again.

(Thanks @AndreasB for the investigation)
