I really like the idea to see the greeting "Hello ..." when starting an SMS. But I'm too stupid to activate it (or one could say it's not intuitive :-). Can sb please help me?

In general I think this feature of quickly inserting the greeting is great and I'd like to see it in all kind of comunication programs, e.g. email.

The greeting "Hello", "Hei", etc (the wording probably depends on your system language) in the writing field of the Messages app is just a placeholder to indicate where you start your own actual message to the recipient, so I think at the moment there is no way for "activating" it.

There should be ellipsis sign (...) at the end, to indicate, that it is not a finished sentence, but just a prompt.

I would find it a cool feature if, when entering a punctuation (e.g. comma or exclamation mark) as first character, the greeting text would be automatically inserted.

@hongakonga Automatically inserting a greeting should be a purely optional feature. In professional use it might have some demand, but in personal use one rarely begins every message with the same phrase.

Actually, a selection of boilerplates would be nice. Things like "I'm at a meeting, will call you back" or "Coming, gimme 5 min" could be sent out in a couple of clicks. Quite useful in those situations when you can't afford to spend 5 minutes typing on an on-screen keyboard.
