Hello,

I seem to be having an issue with my speaker as many others, and still can't determine if this is a HW or SW issue. As I have tried the unmute fix and both twisting and squeezing the phone at the bottom left but nothing has helped.

Essentially I have no sound from the bottom speaker but I get sound from the top one when making phone calls and if I plug in headphones they also work.

It's been over a year since I own a Jolla so a warranty fix is no longer an option. I saw that you can replace the speaker and I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for good replacement speakers?

Thank you :)

[Edit]

I've bough a HTC One X S720e G23 speaker from ebay: image description

Will let you know how it goes.

Tapping (bit harder) helped in my case to restore sound. Sad that you have tried and it doesn't resolve the issue.

Yeah I tapped it, hit it, press it and everything but I am still not sure if it's HW issue but I will be taking it apart tomorrow once I buy a replacement speaker.

In European Union I think there is mandatory two year warranty. In addition to that there can be manufacturer's own warranties that have wider scope but more limited time. More information is available at here: http://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/shopping/shopping-abroad/guarantees/index_en.htm

Check this out. Suggests a HTC speaker.

I can confirm that this solution is simple and you'll have a speaker with better quality then the original.

I had the same problem. In my case this was hardware related.

The connection between the speaker and the PCB was faulty. To fix this I opened the phone (there are only some screws, so it's pretty simple) and cleaned (scratched) and bended the speaker contacts a bit. Since then they are working flawlessly again.

If you don't want to send your phone in, it is worth to try fixing it on your own. It isn't that hard :) But remember, everything you do with your phone is your responsibility. So if you are unsure what to do exactly, ask.

I am really confused. So I am just sitting at my desk in work and bam a text message goes off with full sound. Keyboard tones, music player everything is working fine. I didn't even touch the phone it was just on my desk all day and now it magically works once again.

So I do assume that it's a software issue.

It's a bad contact issue as I already mentioned to you last time. :D But you could reset your Jolla and check out if this is really a software issue...

The sound of the original loudspeaker is pretty low.

Does someone try to replace it as suggested by this guy ?

and also the blog of the guy aka faenil , with an updatd of the previous youtube video.

In January 2015, he had extended the tests, but not clearly found the best and seemed to need some help for the implantation ... http://bernabei.me/
