I'm a very hard Waze user, but it's getting harder and harder to use it on my Jolla phone. It keeps crashing shortly after I open it, mostly all the time. Very unstable, seems like the phone memory just can't handle it. Any help?

I had the same issue and solved it. The problem came from having multiple Services Google Play packages installed.

In more details, I installed 4 or 5 software repositories in an Android store (Aptoide). I installed a Services Google Play package from a repository different from the Waze repository. From what I understand, it resulted in a conflict on the Waze side. When starting Waze, it loaded a Services Google Play that is not compatible with it.

You could try to uninstall the different Services Google Play and only keep the one from the Waze repository. If this is not enough, remove the repository(ies) from which you installed the other Services Google Play. This worked for me, hope it will help you solve your problem.

Note that you may need to uninstall the applications from these repositories. Or they may not work anymore.

Alternatively, you can try to find the Waze app from another repository.

Thanks! I removed it and installed again, this time from Amazon app store. It seems to be working fine now. :-)

Waze works fine for me, it's probably the application I use the most. Sometimes in the past it happened that it crashed and from that moment on it behaved the way you describe, until I removed and reinstalled it. Try uninstalling it and reinstalling it again. Make sure the version you are using is not a beta.

Android-ware that require Google Play Services are not and will not be officially supported in Joöla. This is Jolla Togeher Community not Google Play support help forum, so IMO the questiion should be closed as"irrelevant". At the minimum the question should be re-tagged to inform community that it is linked to android apps only.

I disagree, even if something isn't officially supported, someone might have an answer or be able to help.

Seeking help for Google Play Service related problems in Jolla user forum is out of scope and not relevent for the users, developers and sailors in here.

I understand your point of view, but some users are using Google Services with their Jolla phones. Even if it isn't officially supported by Jolla it's OK if they support each other. The more things that work, the better for Jolla.

Supporting and enablingGoogle Play is not good for Jolla or SailfisOS and/or native app ecosystem spread. Addtionally, topics related to that e.g. in which Google Play is needed or the lack of it or unofficial hacked installs of it causes problems are out-of-scope to this forum, so such posts / requests should not be accepted here, but should be closed/removed by the moderators or other community members.

I truly can't understand this kind of thinking. Of course we all want Jolla ecossystem to grow and walk with his own legs, but it's clear to me that Jolla, as any other company in the world, needs to be profitable. And for that to happen, they need to go wider than only please the former MeeGo/Nokia lovers. And, if they want to reach other users, the phone must have decent apps - but I guess you already know that.

I'm not supporting Google. I'm a Jolla phone user. I love it. And I want to use Waze on it. If Jolla tells me most Android apps run on its phone. it seems to me absolutely natural and relevant that I, indeed, come to a Jolla forum to ask my Jolla fans colleagues if there's an anwer to my problem. Sorry, but this topic isn't out of scope in any way to my point of view.

Since the last update OOM killer is a bit too aggressive, see https://together.jolla.com/question/73432/discussion-oom-killer-fine-tuning-overcommit_ratio-value/ and try if that helps.
