why texturized background in Sailfish apps?

I know is a 'graphic-about-question', apparently simple, but starting with a Jollaphone I had the feeling that the texture dark create a sort of grid of 'fake pixel', big pixel. The real resolution of this device is absolutely enough, but that graphic trick, can create misanderstandings in many users (and in some product review).

Probably a blurred and dark png will work better...

It's a tecnique also used in webdesign: a gif texture with little square green and transparent, over the real background image... Ok this is the classical 'degustibus' question.

That simple triangular pattern could be replaced with something more sophisticated, that's what I mean. ...or something more techy. ...or unlike?
