Connect to network timeout too short?

I have two WiFi routers at home, to cover each other's blind spots. It takes a second or two longer to connect to one of them. More often than not, when I try connecting to that one, my phone tells me there was "A problem with connection", only to succeed immediately on the second try. It is more of a minor inconvenience than a serious problem but I was wondering if anyone knows of any way around it. None of my other WiFi devices experience the same problem.

I tried a forum search but the only thing that came up that sounded similar was https://together.jolla.com/question/50540/bug-timeout-in-wifi-password-entry/ - which is also an issue, but a different one.

Use a repeater instead of a second router? ;-) This way you have a bigger range and no borders...

I know, but a repeater is something I'd have to buy ;-) A second router is something I had lying around.
