Reboot without PIN code query? [answered]
Is it possible to reboot Jolla without having to enter PIN code?
I don't mean entirely disabling PIN code queries, just looking for a way to get rid of entering PIN after every reboot.
We have moved to a new Sailfish OS Forum. Please start new discussions there.

It is only possible if you disable the PIN query from the simcard options.
And this is not something that is going to change, it is a mandatory ETSI requirement. It is not something that should be wantonly changed even though of course it in theory could be possible to cache the PIN in the device and use it from there.
Just face it, it is forbidden.
And really I'd like to know what is your use case for such a silly requirement? Why do you boot your device so often it bothers you?
My use case for this requirement is fairly simple. When using N9 this kind of reboot was possible, though rarely useful as I was able to use several days, even weeks with no need to reboot. So I got used to the idea I don't have to enter PIN unless I power down the phone.
With Jolla the interval is not something like 10 days, but rather 10 hours. Especially when using Android software, crashes are frequent. Most problems I've had with Viber and Pivo, and when these apps cause problems, I usually can't start any Android software until reboot. And yes, I have tried utilities to restart Dalvik/stop Android runtime, but it doesn't solve the problem.
It is not too rare either, that Sailfish apps too start getting unresponsive. For example the browser somewhat often triggers continuous "not responding" notifications and only way to stop this seems to be reboot.

(If you just want to restart the UI, the same thing on Jolla is doable with "killall lipstick" as devel-su)
juiceme ( 2015-01-13 10:21:52 +0200 )editThere is an app called Reboot for N9 http://n9-apps.com/reboot which does what I'm looking for. I don't know precisely what it does, but at least uptime counter starts from zero after that. Probably the trick is discussed in: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=81184
Thanks for pointing out that just knocking down lipstick may be enough, I'll give it a try.

[Bug] WLAN-selection has higher priority than PIN-entry
My phone reboot during a update and now fails to boot [answered]
When powering on the device, go straight to enter PIN code screen.
Bug: Hidden WLAN leads to hang when password is wrong
Flight mode is not enforced after reboot
Feature: Option for restarting the device [duplicate]
dalvik crashes and doesn't start without reboot of the phone [answered]
I wonder why and how many times you do a reboot.
