Since a long time, I'm using my phone as a daily wifi hotspot @ work. Since the availability of wireless hotspot in Sailfish settings, I always lost internet 3G connection ( on my computer AND on jolla phone ) if i dont use the data connection for certain time ( estimated around 30 minutes )

I already tried 2 french different providers ( Free mobile which is susing roaming with Orange, I supposed it was coming from this specific thing and then switched to Bouygues Telecom who's got its proper network ) and same issue on both providers ..

After it happened, i'm still connected to Jolla on my computer and I can ping my Jolla (ip gateway 192.168.0.1 in computer wifi status ) but dns are not working anymore ( ping google five me unknown host ) and tracert of a public IP give me the way from my computer to 192.168.0.1 and then nothing Data connection is not working anymore on my Jolla also ! even if hotspot is disabled and 3g icon is shown as connected.

There is only 2 ways for me to get the data back --> reboot the Jolla... airplane mode for a period ... - tried the sailfishutilities to restart network services --> FAIL With these 2 solutions, I got network back but with teh sailfish utilities trick, I get network back but can't send sms/mms neither call someone, connection to 3g is shown connected in the settings, but not in the home screen ! all I can do is reboot my phone or switch to airplane mode .... each 30 minutes ...

This bug is driving me crazy and I tryed differents wireless dongle on my provider, disable all automatic email sync on my phone. I even can receive sms while using the hotspot without loosing data on both computer and Jolla and every time SUDENLY, everything is broken ... :(

If I can send logs or do whatever test to help investigations on this part, I'll be happy to help ( I just did a full wipe of my Jolla without any backup restored and bug's still happening )

PS : My jolla has already done a trip to Finland to get it's ntwork chip and antenna replaced in the past year, hope it's not another HW issue ...

EDIT : after testing usb tethering, issue happened also with this mode, title edited and comment added below. Help Jolla !

To rule out a connman/ofono issue. Does it also happen if you tether over USB? https://together.jolla.com/question/8357/jolla-as-usb-modem/

I have similar issue. My phone loses 3G connection directly when connecting hotspot. The 3G connection icon from connections disappears (Now it doesn't even show up at all). The wifi kills the 3G and there is no way of reconnecting. Airplane mode or rebooting with no wifi close helps since the jolla connects automatically to roaming.

This started happening after Vaarainjärvi

EDIT : issue happened here in usb mode also ....

Just used my usb tethering for now 3 hours without any issue, this looks definitely linked to the wifi hotspot :/

It's not the first time I heard about issues when wifi device is used on Jolla. Personnaly, I experimented bluetooth crash while the Jolla was in wifi tethering mode. In this mode, I saw a GPS jamming with Maps or Waze app. Each time, turning wifi tethering off resolves the issue.

Is it due to software or hardware implementation ? I haven't got enough data to say it.

However, I just install this morning USB-Tethering and the most revelant thing is the bandwidth increment : from 2.5 MBytes/s to 5.5 MBytes/s (I say byte not bit). For bluetooth crash, I'll test it again ASAP.

OK, I'm now using usb tethering with a permanent ping command in background and It's working perfectly for now 2 days without any kind of issue ! So regarding usb tethering, this is definitely a network ( provider ) issue imho !
