Hello Sailor

could someone explain what does mean this green dash on home screen (see the screenshot). It appears on my phone when wifi is activated. I don't see any documentations about it on sailfish os dedicated Website and on web ocean (google search). for example here: https://jolla.com/guide/

thanks in advance for the response. Maybe it will be fine that the jolla-team develop more their documentation about the os, or make it more accessible.

Screenshot

In complement of the answer of Markkyboy. The function is more or less documented in https://jolla.com/guide/ In Section "What's happening : Events and Notifications " upon Common tasks Section . But i think some pictures to describe it for all kind of people are missed.

Have good continuation all!

It's called Presence. Swipe up from the bottom of your Jolla for notification view, then tug the pulley menu and you will see Show presence details - When Green, it shows you are Available, I have no social media apps installed, so normally I don't see this, I don't know about the colours for Offline and Away.

Regards,

thank you @Markkyboy for your answer and @Moth for your precision. May i ask you to give me how did you have the information. Your answer seems to come so fast, that maybe i had overseen something. shortly tell from me, help me to end my day more clever... ;-) then the thread could be closed (from me or every one else...)

@cemoi71 - the question has been asked before, but couldn't find the original, so I just answered you :)

@Markkyboy really!? do you means that this question could be more or less a duplicate? (maybe not because of the goal to reach)

YEs, of sorts, your question is a duplicate, which I have just found https://together.jolla.com/question/31438/green-bar-status-info/ but it's closed, so not exactly a duplicate - I'm still learning myself @cemoi71 how to use and navigate Together Jolla, even I don't understand certain things here at times and the search box is lame at the best of times.

@nthn i find really not right from you that you close the thread without to my consent. there civilities to observe, that for example the expected goal is reached, and in this case it is still not!! thanks for respect it in future!

While I agree that only the Original Poster (OP) should decide if the question has been answered and I also find other people closing questions without the OP's consent rude, but... may I ask you what exactly is missing in the answers you have been given? If you are satisfied, maybe you can close the question yourself?

yes you may ask it. i want to know where markkyboy and moth their information. it seems to be obvious. and i found it not obvious. maybe it is not documented, otherwise i am blind (not saying an idiot). maybe tactical the jolla guide should be updated... so that more or less the way i feel that could be the end of the thread... do you understand what i mean?

the other question that i ask me. why should i see the status of just one account, if i have some other one. some off them may be offline, but should be on the status list in notification view as offline. they are not on the list!!! why? is it done deliberately? or there is a bug in concept?

cemoi71 ( 2015-01-21 01:08:13 +0300 )edit

If I didn't close your question, someone else would have done it anyway (as eric has done now). The question is answered, there's nothing more to add, so it can be closed. You could put the additional questions about how this works with multiple accounts in a different thread, or just reopen this one (as I suppose you have done) and change the question a bit if you feel you need to know more.

The reason I and other people close questions for other people is because it happens quite often that people don't close their own question even when it has been answered, and then that question stays in the 'unanswered' section even though it has been answered. We don't close questions if there's no reason to do so.

nthn ( 2015-01-21 14:16:25 +0300 )edit

@nthn the real question was how could it be not documented or not so obvious to be found. to avoid some duplicates, i means that the question comes again and again. i understand the need of not let a thread to long, avoiding that they stock themselves. do you think that question comes and comes again and again is good to? I think not! closing a thread should be done with one right mind, not too fast. like: all the issue inside was solved?, why they were related inside? and particularly How can we avoid in future how it won't come again! the last one is really important. And those point that i've related now, i think i will bring in the guideline discussions that we already began last year. could be boring for you but it has is purpose. please don't think that i post a thread and try hard to express my self just for fun . i take it serious to bring my contribution to an optimal product with a usefriendly ecosystem...
