Why is karma not awarded for Wiki posts? [answered]

This is a bit counterintutive to the way I understand this site. The way I see it, Wiki posts are for gathering knowledge, giving structure to informations that is otherwise scattered across the community. Therefor, making a Wiki post is potentially more altruistic in nature and more oriented towards the community goals? Shouldn't that be rewarded?
Normal question can be entirely individual, and while this site is obviously also for this purpose, getting them answered they may sometimes serve only the person who asked them, or very few anyway. Also, why do some Wiki authors point out that they are not getting karma from votes gathered by that post? It's not like I mind anyone getting Karma for doing useful things - but the opposite!
(on a side note, it says "many others will be able to edit the post": that's equally true for normal questions! :-) )

Okw ( 2015-01-20 21:56:37 +0300 )editI would suggest to go about it the same way as with other posts. They get karma for upvoted questions, comments and answers. Many normal questions have dozens of contributors, they can all get karma for useful comments and answers - why not for wikis? I really don't see the difference.
bennypr0fane ( 2015-01-20 22:49:32 +0300 )edit@bennypr0fane - Makes it easy to manipulate the system to get Karma then. Karma's do give you extra privileges. So if Wikis gave Karmas to everyone who contributed to it, all I would have to do to get some effortless karma would be to just do some minor editing to some wiki with high karma rating and reap the karma.
