Is it possible to transfer files over Bluetooth?
Photos, videos, documents, notes, calendar events and contacts can be transferred over Bluetooth by using the Share option in their corresponding apps (Gallery, Documents, Notes, Calendar, People).
For any other file types you can use a workaround by renaming them to a known file extension (like .jpg), opening the renamed file in a native app (like Gallery) and using the Share option to send it via Bluetooth. You can use a file browser app (File Browser, Cargo Dock) to rename the file, or even the command line if you have the developer mode enabled.
For the moment, I don't know of any easier way of sending uncommon files over Bluetooth.
Receiving files works with any paired device and has no limitation on the file format.
Have a look at the Jolla User Guide as well for more official details: https://jolla.com/guide/
