Connecting Jolla to the internet through USB

I do not have a WLAN so originally when upgrading to Vaarainjärvi I decided to tether the wired connection to the jolla through usb. I succesfully NAtted the connection, and ssh, browser etc. worked through it very fast.

However, even though the image loaded in the system upgrade GUI (which it didnt without a connection), the update refused to download. Worked instantly with mobile data, but was slow. Any ideas?
