APK installation fails without error message

I tried to install the Android version of J. Downloading it works and an installer starts when I click on the downloaded file. After confirming the permissions requested by the APK, I'm greeted with a screen that says “App wurde nicht installiert” (app was not installed). There is only a “Fertig” (finish) button on the screen apart from this message.

How can I figure out why the installation failed?
How can I fix the cause of the installation failure?

Yes, I did. I tried restarting the Dalvik VM and I am able to install other APKs. Notice that I get a different kind of error than the one in the linked question, where nothing happens at all.

have you checked that the app is compatible with android 4.1.2 (as this seems to be the compatible version of the dalvik vm on jolla?)
