I would like a setting wich forces every different number to be shown as different conversations even if it goes to the same contact. This should be the same for both SMS'es and Calls. The info contained in the conversation should be: Name, Phone type, Phonenumber, like: "Mum, Mobile, 012345678" or "Mum, Home, 9876543210".

I've got a lot of contacts with several different phonenumbers, the SMS conversation doesn't care of which number I sending SMS to, everything shows in the conversation for the contact, and the last used number will get the next SMS (if don't select number from contacts or send from the call log). --edit2: I find it difficult to know wich phone number I send to when people has different mobile phone numbers.--

This has also caused me a lot of trouble, I've sended several SMS'es to fixed land lines wich could be terribly embarrassing (SMS'es to a fixed phone here in Sweden are automaticly read (by a robot) when the reciever lifts the phone..)

This is a suggestion which I think will fix the issues in the linked thread below. (Jolla support asked me to create a question here to se the interest in this request.)

While in a conversation, you can change the number (or account, if you have XMPP or similar set up) that a message will be sent to by tapping on 'Change type', or tapping and holding on 'Send' when you have already typed the message.

@nthn yes, but i don't want to check every time if i selected the right number. it would be really nice to see the number right away.. it can't be that difficult to implement..

Can you explain? If you don't receive SMS messages from a landline and don't intentionally start a conversation with a landline number, how do you end up sending text messages to landlines from an existing conversation?

I'm asking because I have the same situation with my contacts (one contact, 2, 3 or 4 phone numbers) and I never had such a problem.

@ossi1967 Sometimes I do it by mistake, most of the times I guess it's through the call log but I know at least one time (maybe four) when I replied directly in a sms conversation and the sms ended up in a landline phone. I don't know why, that's were why I contacted Jolla support.

I would not separate but show the currently used number and assigned tags (home/mobile work/mobile etc), the name shown does not help but if it is inside a conversation already. Also flags in People use for SMS/MMS|use for SIP|use for call once made a lot of sense but got lost by phones using touch interfaces for some reason.

As sending texts happens in reply to the last this should be just fine in the messaging-app or do you get texts from landlines and want to text back to their mobile - that is odd. == separation should not be a default setting, an option in Settings for separation if need be could save you from a flamewar later on

@chemist I don't think it needs do be a default setting either, but I want the option.. No I don't get texts from landline. Sometimes though, I get a call from the landline and want to reply with sms later.

And that issue is already part of the "show numbers in call log" request, so I do not quiet get the point here. You want to be enabled to differentiate people's numbers to not send texts to landlines but ask for separation of messages instead of just upvoting the other request or simply ask for an option to group/not-group call-list entries (that would actually be a good idea to have an option like that). So may I ask you to reconsider and update your request please.

Nope.. I upvoted that request. And I still want to have different conversations with those who got several mobile phones. I'll add that to the request.

Maybe Jolla support doesn't read the comments and anwers in the threads, because they asked me to create this question to see the particular interest, I replied that it were mentioned in the question I refered to above but I added a new request as they said so.
