I recently noticed this and it happened to me couple of times, after upgrade to 1.1.1.21. I connect micro usb charger and connect it to the charger in a power socket and I see the dialog for selecting connection type pops up (developer, pc, or charge only).

In my opinion this is a bug because this dialog should pop up only when connected to PC, atleast it used to be like this in previous release. Any one faced this issue?

It's long ago since I last had this problem. Certainly not with one of the 1.1.x releases, must have been early 2014. I had it only a few times and forgot all about it.

+ossi1967 So this looks like a regression bug?.. I can't always reproduce this it just happens some time and not sure what triggers this

This is an duplicate. There is already such a question in the wild and also an official answer by jolla regarding this issue. Please search :)

Looks like a duplicate of following question: charger recognised as USB cable, and charging doesn't begin This question proposes as a solution connecting an USB cable to the charger and the phone first and connecting the charger to a socket afterwards.

I see usb connection type dialogue on connecting the charger pretty often.

BTW, I have noticed, that when it happens charging current according to /sys/class/power_supply/battery/current_now is much lower than normal, so I replug cable if I see this dialogue to make sure the phone charges fast.

Its not exact duplicate, in my case it still charges just that a popup comes up to select connection type.

Well as I could not immediately find a topic that exactly duplicates this. Although the problem has been mentioned a number of times. The problem is basically partly a USB design issue as charging was a bit of an afterthought.

The connector is a bit stiff and the chip behind it a bit eager, so this ends up that when connecting the connector a bit to slow the charger gets misidentified as a USB cable. This is due to that a charger should have the data lines shorted (or with very low resistance) and for electrical protection issues the + and ground pins are longer. So when the charger chip sees the voltage it immediately tries to decide what was inserted, unfortunately it is a bit eager and might decide it is a cable as it has not seen the charger data lines connection yet.

You can see that misidentification won't happen if the Jolla side plug is already connected before you plug in the charger. Also if you put in the connector but it is not completely in yet you can see it happen. Unfortunately this is a hw issue that is not really fixable. This explains also why some people see it more than others, or that different cables/charges sometimes give different results. In any case the Jolla will charge ;)

Well, that makes sense now it always happened when I connected jolla to charger when charger is already in socket. Not other wise!. Thanks a bunch for clarification :).
