Make it possible to use the Jolla tablet as a mobile Linux workstation. Just connect it to a keyboard at work - use it as a Linux workstation during the day - and then leave work with just the tablet when the day is over. No more lap-tops - thank you very much!

Ideal would be a dock with plugs for monitor, keyboard and mouse, a true mobile workplace with light-weight desktop apps.

In theory this should be possible with a USB 3 port that connects to a docking hub for screen, keyboard, mouse and wired Internet. This works very well on Windows, but apparently not yet in the Linux world.

The screen is shared via Display Link, which is not yet fully supported in the Linux kernel. So it seems like a task that's maybe too big to implement in the tablet right now. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/DisplayLink
Anyway, I think the USB 3.0 solution is preferred over a proprietary port for a proprietary hardware dock.

I think the clarity in this question isn't so much to be used as a workstation, but that the tablet looks/behaves like a laptop when connected to keyboard/mice accessories, or when it is docked (software defined?) as if it were to become a workstation. The hardware answers are made already here, but I think software needs to be considered, as well as the definition of workstation.
I don't like the idea of being constrained to a mouse and keyboard as input tools. Yes, they work, and work well. But if the tablet will become a workstation, then the software should enable the tablet to become both a driver for a monitor and either a second screen or a touchpad with some enhanced regions for typing and gestures.
In my working mode, a stylus is more important than a mouse (signing items and pointing/circling along with drawing) and so how would the idea of a workstation fit that? It would seem that 2.0's changes seem to assume something more than mice as a pointer, but I don't see that from the software in a way that gives clarity towards software that can be designed in that context.
I say all of this to mean that the request is good, but the answer is deeper than fearures. It's about behaviors learned and refined. The Jolla tablet, to be a workstation, needs to affirm what was learned about using a workstation, but should also redefine aspects better given that it can look at this context anew.

I tried HP Elitepad 900 quite while ago, (Windows 8 only unfortunately) which had this, you could put into dock, into keyboard jacket, into extended battery jacket etc. Only problem was that performance was insufficient.
Obi ( 2015-02-01 13:35:47 +0300 )editApart from the screen as lakutalo points out is not going to be supported, you could either use USB-OTG to a USB keyboard and mouse provided the tablet supports that (the phone doesn't) or use a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. A bluetooth keyboard works for me with the phone. I've not tried a mouse.
