Music instrument input Otherhalf?

How about an Otherhalf, that let's you plug-in an input jack for a microphone or musical instrument? This can be next used low-latency (through jack2, if that is not a problem) to a DAW written for Sailfish, kinda like iPhone's Jam Up.

Why not use the microphone connection at the headphone connector? TOH is connected via I2C, which cannot carry analog signals and doesn't have enough bandwidth for high definition digital audio.

surely bandwidth enough for MIDI?

IIRC it only needs 32KBps which is ridiculously low by today's standards :)

@juiceme, for MIDI yes. That'd make it a MIDI I/O-toh then, since it does not carry audio. Just control messages and triggers.

I'm not really familiar with the hardware part, but I wonder if it should have a separate sound card? Probably yes? Also, it won't have problems appearing in /dev/ as all PCI and USB devices do?
