Once Bluetooth is activated, it is possible to set the device name within the settings. But it is not permanent; after bluetooth is turned off and on again, the device name is reverted to its default (Jolla forename name). To me, this seems like a bug, as the Bluetooth visibility is properly persisted.

As a workaround, does anyone know how to change the default name?

edit: I am using version Vaarainjarvi (1.1.1.27)

Okay. That is weird, I tried it again and this time, it worked. So, I do not know what might cause this.

Now and then it happens to me when on bluetooth earphones and the network is switching to a known wifi, then the device name is restored and the paired devices list is empty. They are back after a reboot. Annoying enough since you can pass many eduroam sites on a simple city journey.

Just noticed this too. It happened before. Is it part of the update process? Either way, I was and am unpleasantly surprised. I have bluetooth "always visible", but broadcasting my full name all the time is certainly NOT my intention.

Also, how (and WHY?) does it know my name? Jolla account? E-mail account?

@Fuzzillogic fullack, certainly an unwanted privacy leak (and certainly a bug). this is very annoying

It persists after turning the bluetooth off and on, but doesn't on rebootwith bluetooth off. I also tried to change /etc/hostname. No difference.
