Upon launching Jolla Store I get a notification saying:

"Problem with Store
Critical problem with the app registry"

When I try to install an app (Flashlight in this case) the Store crashes. Furthermore, "My apps" says "You do not have any installed apps". Needless to say, I do have several apps installed and I can run them just fine. I have not toyed around with the repos or pkconfig otherwise in a while, and a few days ago the Store still worked fine.

Any suggestions how to find and solve the problem?

Ok, I rebooted since several other things were acting up as well, and now they seem to work. I'm still not sure what caused this issue, but it seems there were a bunch of other things affected as well.

I had same same problem just now, started the Terminal but thought that rebooting first would make sense. After reboot everything works again. I can't be sure but seems that system monitoring apps (Sailtime and early versions of Crest) are causing these issues as only times I have experienced system-wide instability are when these types of applications are running. I using very conservative set of applications, only stuff from Jolla store, no Android support and no more Openrepos either.

Haven't seen that error myself, but have you tried the "usual" things to do in case "Problem with store" in dev-mode (as root) already:

pkcon refresh

and

zypper clean -a

Thanks, tried that just now. While refreshing I get the following: "The daemon crashed mid-transaction!" I am having other problems right now as well, such as inability to connect to WLAN and no pages loading in the browser, so it might be some connection issue now, although Store showed new apps.

I do not recall my devel-su password is there any thing to do to recover it in order to get the chance to run everything mentioned in the thread? I can't get the lock on the rpm db rebuild

dgolcher ( 2014-11-01 06:05:03 +0300 )edit

just go to settings --> developer mode under "remote connection", just type in your desired new password and tap to save. alternatively, you can also create a random password with the "generate" option. in both cases, the password you set there is the one to log in as root in terminal, whether its local on your jolla via the terminal or via ssh from another machine in your lan (in this case, first connect as nemo@[yourjollaIPinlan],use your root pw to login and afterwards run devel-su,giving the same passwd again for remote root access cheers, Tuso

After trying Settings|System|Utilities|Rebuild App Registry didn't work I tried your solution. However, I get [root@Jolla nemo]# zypper clean a bash: zypper: comand not found [root@Jolla nemo]#

I was having same issue. I have many apps installed but Jolla store was saying No apps installed. I was unable to install or remove any app at all. I mailed Jolla care and they reply me and it worked for me. May be it will be helpful for you too

@Silwer You are most welcome :)

Err, what shall I do, as without Store I can't activate developer mode?

AnaT ( 2015-07-14 00:26:56 +0300 )edit

And also this solution doesn't work for me. After trying all suggestions from cemoi71, foss4ever and yours (Saqib Iqbal), none worked for me. Still not able to update or install from store. And from Aptoid either.

"developer mode" is not included because of this error. The circle is closed.

Hello,

want just to post my experience. I had a similar problem but for uninstall an app.
after uninstall action I got a notification with:

"Problem with Store Critical problem with the app registry"

And the app was not uninstalled. I use then the functionality "restore the register database" in /configuration/system/utilities/.

Action done, and as described on the phone, system restart automatically.
Then the uninstall was possible to be done as usual.

I would recommend to do this, if by installing app comes the same issue.

Good sail.

I had the same problem ("Problem with store. Unable to install."), but additionally I wasn't able to update also, same error message: "Problem with store. Unable to update." Tried this Settings|System|Utilities|Rebuild App Registry thing also but it didn't improve the situation.

I faced this error today because of btrfs-balance – I didn't know the reason at the beginning. None of the solutions related to Jolla Store, Jolla account, and pkcon worked for me.

First, I got the error "The daemon crashed mid-transaction!", then my Jolla account became inactive and I couldn't sign in as well. I got the error "no space left on the device" while trying to remove os-info and reminded me about the balancing issue.

So also lack of file system allocation memory can make such problems. You may need to try devel-su btrfs-balancer allocation to check the memory status and devel-su btrfs-balancer balance to balance phone memory.

Please today i had this error today, too. Only i was having a call. Now i don't have start some applications, other apps have been reset, and I lost my configuration. If i try this commands say me: "Please free up more space and try again". But if i try to delete some files, have an error and can't delete the files. Beside i deactivate developer-mode and if i close terminal, Could make a devel-su? I still have 8GB of free space. ¿What can i do?

I've the same issues here with fiskarjarvi. Can't install update or applications from jolla.

Problem with store. Tried things in this thread without success. Any ideas?

Maybe jolla should look into how they handle this.

did you tried: Settings-Accounts-Jolla-Update sign-in credentials ?

Schturman ( 2016-11-05 12:31:19 +0300 )edit

yes, tried that. tried remove account and add it again, tried to recreate new jolla account. Tried to restore the device. Tried to install it via terminal without success.

Did you check the status of the filesystem? My experience is that FS could get clogged even when free space shows plenty of space. Maybe you could check some advice from: https://together.jolla.com/question/30822/root-and-home-disks-full-and-causing-various-problems/

I read that. But I thought that was handled when reset the device to factory settings? Maybe that isn't the case. On the other hand I haven't really used the device that much so it's no way that I could have filled it. But sure I will look into that. Thx

Seems that something is fishy on jolla-side. EDIT: https://together.jolla.com/question/150635/sailfish-update-to-v-20414-failed/

It's the same for me. Neither I can install apps nor the system update to 2.0.4.14.

When searching for a system update a notification appears with the hint that the size of the update cannot be determined. For me it seems like a error in the store service.

There was a server side issue with the 2.0.4.14 repositories, but that has now been fixed.

The "Critical problem with the app registry" from the original question points to corrupted rpm db on the device, and is not related.
