I wanted to ask if anyone else has experienced problems using Android apps which utilise a 'persistent notification': that is, on an Android phone they would place an item in the notification list to (a) keep the app active, and (b) enable a quick return to it.

The app in my case is Moovit, a public transit app which I find pretty essential. During navigation, Moovit creates a 'return to Moovit' entry in my events list - great. Unfortunately my Jolla seems to misunderstand the intention and also flashes up with this message as at the top of my screen every few seconds for the duration of my journey, even if the app is live. It's pretty annoying and limits my ability to interact with the app menus which are at the top.

Has this been noticed with any other apps? I could not find any questions on this.

I am seeing a similar issue with Whatsapp

I'm having a similar issue, eg. with Android HERE maps and Amazon App Store. When navigating with HERE maps, the notifications pop up constantly. Equally when I update an app using the Amazon app store.

This becomes a bit frustrating when using my Pebble with Android notifications turned on as I then end up with a few hundred notifications.

Would it be possible to add a setting, similar to allowing Android apps to run in the background, whereby you could turn off notifications within specific apps?

Yes, something similar also happens with Conversations (XMPP app): there is a persistent notification "Touch to open Conversation", which immediately reappears after clicking on it. I haven't found a way to disable this without also losing new message notifications.

@Arie: May I ask what you did in order to disable the notifications?

@till: I didn't actually disable the notifications completely, as that would render the app more or less useless. If you're asking how you could completely disable all notifications from an android app, I'm not sure: I seem to recall there was an option for this in the per-app Jolla settings, but I can't find it now, so either the option disappeared with an upgrade or I remembered incorrectly.
