calendar notifications and display

I noticed one day that IF my calendar was killed I missed an event. It didn't gave me any info whatsoever. Is it possible to get calendar notifications and upcoming events on the "lockscreen" or the same view where missed calls messages etc appear. It would also be useful to view the event on the lockscreen during the event In case of forgetting it.
I dont know is it a bug or what but about 3 days ago I had an event and I had set the alarm 15mins before the time it starts. Calendar gave me an notification about 5 mins before the event... The next day that worked just fine.. mysterious.
