Sending HTML email

Apparently every time I forward or reply to a HTML email, the mail is converted to text-only, even if the original mail did not contain a text/plain alternative body.

Makes it hard to respond to (or forward) emails that rely on inline formatting.

Maintaining the original appearance of the mail is a must (if HTML, keep HTML / if text, keep text). It's okay if composing a new email is text-only, though there should probably be a toggle for this as well, some people may want to send HTML emails by default.

Composing new mails should default to text only (html ist for websites, not for email :-) ).

@Cmdr_Zod different people have different needs ;) (though I would personally also prefer text-only composing...)

I would like to be able to configure it. Not only for composing/sending mail, but also for receiving (reading) mails. I asked a question for that as well. See: Configure Message Display in Mail app

We seem to still have this issue! And to me, the failing forwarding seems like a bug, not a feature request.

Add settings (e.g. via Pulley Menu) composing mails to toggle between plain text/html composition. Maybe add settings to Mail app for default behaviour. As ziller suggested default behaviour could also be dependend on mail that one replies to (if HTML, keep HTML / if text, keep text).

Hi naytsyrhc, I think this is a suggestion, not an answer.

I said the same to someone else on another topic and he told me, that we are supposed to do so in order to get voted for such suggestions. I wouldn't have dared to answer with this just a suggestion, if it was not his comment that let me rethink about it (see: here)

If configurable, I'd rather like the approach some desktop clients take (take a look at Evolution for instance). In preferences you have only "Default behaviour: HTML yes/no" and then an option during composing to turn the message into text (or HTML).
