Sound messages in mp3 under 10 sec don't work

Hey,

my provider sends me mails with sound messages in mp3. If they are under 10 seconds, the jolla can't play it.

So, what's wrong?

Regards

Erik

It's an issue with low bit rates not track length. An MP3 with a 22khz bitrating won't play on Jolla, take the same mp3, convert it to 44khz bitrate and Jolla will now play it. This is an issue from the beginning and is still an issue now, I also think your question is a duplicate of sorts but cannot find them. Please refrain from posting duplicates if you can! :)

But sound messages in mp3 from the same provider with durations around one minute are working. So you think they manipulate the bitrating for smaller sound messages?

Hmmm, okay good point, perhaps to add that information to your original question and possibly post one of the files that won't play..?, I'd be happy to play around.

I didn't see any ads ;) (adblockplus!)

The file you provided is only 64kbps @ 8khz MONO. (I think this may be the problem for Jolla).

In terminal, I navigated to my Music folder in nemo, then typed this lame --resample 48 voicemail-20150209122557.mp3- here is the resulting file https://www.dropbox.com/s/tjfx3g0yh1rll9j/voicemail-64kbps48khz.mp3?dl=0 - this must be a bug, no one wants to resample stuff before playing it!

Here's the post I got this info from https://together.jolla.com/question/30533/mediaplayer-fails-with-low-samplerates/

Regards,
