Today I heard rumor that google is going turn off gtalk, so since the 16th February only valid instant messaging system from the google will be Hangouts. Additionally it will be available only in official android app and on desktops in Chrome. http://www.gizmodo.in/indiamodo/Google-Closes-the-door-on-Gtalk-From-February-16-onwards/articleshow/46126521.cms

Somebody also mentioned here, that Facebook is going to turn off XMMP support: https://together.jolla.com/question/79956/facebook-xmpp-support-soon-to-die-plans-for-sailfishos/ (By the way facebook im doesn't work for me already - should it?)

Is it really true that we won't be able to use those, i believe most popular, instant messaging systems without third party apps?

Update:Here appeared some questions about instant messaging regarding Sailfisch OS 2.0. I will quote one most general of them hoping that Jolla will eventually anser:

"Which IM services will be officially supported in SailfishOS 2.0?"

It would be really good to have some comment from Jolla on this... the social media integration is one of the phone's selling points, and we know how weak native instant messaging is outside of these options.

They could do nothing, even if they want. The only way to have a native fb client would be to give fb money through jolla but that doesn't want the community.

@heubergen: Has it disappeared? No results for hangish on openrepos any more. :(
