From a privacy point of view, 2G is horribly insecure and outdated. This usually isn't a problem, because most of the networks I frequent are 3G/4G. Forcing a phone on to 2G makes it a lot easier for Bad Guys[tm] to break encryption and snoop on the connection.

There's an option in the Settings > Mobile Network menu: "Prefer 4G", "Prefer 3G" or "2G only". It would be great if this we could add a "3G/4G only" option to this list.

2G mode saves battery though.

As far as I understand, in prefer 3g the phone will fall back to 2g only if it is not able to establish a 3g connection. If that is the case you will always be on 3g as long as there is one around.

You're right, this is a duplicate, sorry. The point still stands, though. This would be a very useful feature.

Sure, but your point has more weight when you combine it with the votes others already made. :)
