Should opening a pulley menu temporarily disable vibration?

It's harder to feel the haptic feedback from pulley menu options if the device is vibrating at the same time. I've noticed this particularly when trying to snooze an alarm (admittedly in a semi-conscious state, and without my contact lenses in). I guess this may also apply to answering incoming calls. Would a nice tweak be for the OS to automatically switch off vibration whenever the user activates a pulley-menu?

I'll answer no, because in the situations you describe, those are not standard pulley menus: You can pull as far as you want, the option will stay selected. That's why all those pulley menus have one and only one option* . Don't try to feel the haptic feedback, just make a big swipe and release! That's the thing I enjoy the most when I receive a call, being able to make a blind swipe without having to aim a tiny button :)

*) previously, there was several options to decline a call: "ignore", "decline" and "send message" and you needed to concentrate to select the good one. But now, if you forgot to put your phone in silent mode, you can make a quick big swipe to silent the incoming call and then take the time to think of what you want to actually do with this call ;)

Thanks, I think you make a fair point about there being only one option in the pulleys for answering calls; additionally the red/green colour coding on the glow makes it easy to select the right pulley. (However I'm not convinced that the current set-up for responding to alarms is quite so elegant...)

I agree for the alarms, but after a discussion here, Jolla has added new ways to easily blindly snooze. You can now:

  • press the power key
  • swipe away the window from any edge
  • flip your phone on the screen

The configuration files for haptic feedback can be found in /usr/share/ngfd. Maybe there is a way to tweak them to your needs.
