edit: Duplicate of question 41922.

Please add calendar events to what Jolla backup actually backs up.

I tried to update to the 1.1.2.16 -update and update failed, but also lost my sim card and wlan connection. I did a factory reset, backed 'everything' up and now upgrade worked.

Problem is, I lost my Jolla calendar entries which really sucks. I did not realize they were not geting backed up.

In the meantime, how about providing detailed instructions to back up the calendar before this gets implemented in the next version I hope.

For others who might need to reset, also note that the backup needs to be copied to sdcard before factory reset, otherwise the full backup would be lost. After reset the backup first needs to be restored from sdcard to phone memory (into the list of backups), and then again to the phone software itself.

Of course there is. Did you install the jolla calendar app via jolla store? If you mean this app with "grid of numbers": Yes, that is actually a calendar :). You find the days of the week by pulling a bit down, and the month and week number by swiping a bit to the right. And you can add entries via pulley menu.

@wanderer: That's exactly why I wouldn't call it a calendar. Of course it's a sarcastic exaggeration. But I would expect to see my appointments in one view, at least a colour coded hint in the month view and more details in a week view. There are enough pixels! How do you find a certain appointment in a certain calender week? Peek to find the calendar week, tap through all days to find the entry! My Palm Pilot calendar was way better. Certainly not "unlike", but a real calendar! :)

I updated my Jolla to 1.1.6.27 and ones again to my disappointment there is no backup for calendar. All my meetings, appointments, schedules, holidays and so on are in my calendar and I find it absolutely amazing that there is no backup tool. I think it is vital to backup everything you do with computers.

As it seems that Jolla is not interested with this feature, it would be nice if there were an app for calendar backup. Or at least, instructions for dummies how to backup calendar. I'm not using any cloud calendar, only the one in my phone.

Or maybe there already is an easy way to backup Jolla calendar and I just haven't figured it out?

We're currently adding support for calendar backup and restore right now. I can't give an ETA on when the feature will be ready, as obviously it needs extensive testing before we roll it out to customers, to avoid the possibility of causing data corruption.

A "simple" way to back up your calendar data is to copy the following file:

/home/nemo/.local/share/system/privileged/Calendar/mkcal/db

But beware that replacing this file (eg, with an older copied version) is likely to cause issues with synchronization.

Cheers, Chris.

Thanks Chris, good to know there is some progression on this issue. I'll try to follow your advice, hopefully I don't ruin anything... Br Mika

When entering folder /privileged I get message saying 'No permission to read the folder'. What next, how can I proceed? I'm with 1.1.6.27 and using File Browser app (1.6.0), would be nice if I could copy my calendar data to memory card...

@MikaN You need to be root to access that folder.
