Screen mirroring with DLNA [duplicate]
This would be very useful nowadays. TVs and some smart phones already support it.
We have moved to a new Sailfish OS Forum. Please start new discussions there.

What the OP is actually looking for is UDP streaming, for that you need something like VLC that can stream a desktop to any other device. At the moment of writing this: VLC is neither available from Harbour nor OpenRepos.
Reopened the question as it is neither a duplicate to the DLNA sharing request nor is it wise to shutdown people for asking for something just because you find it unlikely that it will be brought in by Jolla, there is always the community that could look into it.
@chemist the OP asked for DLNA explicitly and made no indication that he did search and was aware of the other requests and/or specified how his request would differ from these. Hence, you are simply doing guesswork on the OP's intentions. There are way too many duplicates as is already on TJC and we should encourage people to abide standard forum policies (searching, mentioning what makes their request unique) instead of guessing into the blue what they could have meant. The OP did simply not ask for UDP streaming and/or VLC. The question was for DLNA as, here comes my guesswork, he probably has a DLNA-certified TV standing around that he can use with the Android he has and would like to use with his Jolla?
Here are some links to the "general" screen sharing issue (if your guesswork was actually correct): screen sharing with DLNA <- uh, that one is awfully familiar! miracastscreen sharing app
Bottom line: already screen sharing with an official response from Jolla recommending Miracast warrants to close this request as a duplicate.
Thanks so much for your patronizing tone.
sidv ( 2015-03-04 13:37:18 +0300 )edityes, and DLNA filesharing is another thing as directmedia streaming, at least in terms of software needed, that VLC streaming is a circumvent for missing DLNA server is another thing but desktop-streaming is not part of DLNA per se so what the request is, is have a DLNA ready player play back my desktop, and that is a bare UDP live stream that is understood by an DLNA ready player... why do you link to a non-duplicate if you have a duplicate at hand? But, it is a tablet specific, does miracast need special hardware or is it independent? If it is independent, update your answer with the correct link, close the question and tag as duplicate. I admit I did not search for it but you claimed the wrong question as duplicate...
chemist ( 2015-03-04 15:06:28 +0300 )editThis is a duplicate of this first DLNA request. There already have been multiple duplicates for this cluttering TJC. Please use, as indicated in the submission interface, the search function before submitting new ideas.
Also, there are requests for all the other screen sharing technologies (Miracast, Chromcast,...) already. Please vote for those if you want Jolla to recognize a demand.

I highly doubt that Jolla will look into two different types of wireless display tech, as they are planning on implement/test Miracast as stated in this answer.
raketti ( 2015-03-03 14:04:31 +0300 )editYes, we too are waiting for the possibility to stream from internet on Jolla to tv. Jolla, please give us this as soon as possible. A universal cast would be the most wise.
