well i think that a good product needs to be future proof, not just on the quality but also on the internals. A Product that can be used not just for 2 years but for 5 or even more years. It needs to be capable of running the latest games and also needs to have the most beautiful display possible (I am a pixel fan). And also it needs to be specs proof for the longest time possible.

thanks for reading

You have explained what you want, but not why you want it. Care to elaborate?

ok specs but the pricing dude.... youve been spoiled by companies like apple: 32GB 450$, 64GB 500$, 128GB 600$. if the only thing changing is the memory and they are able to sell 32GB at 450$ then 64GB should be 475$ and 128GB maybe 525$. everything else is a pure rip off...

What platform would be better in that aspect, x86 or ARM?

I have a strong feeling they're going to be with Intel for a while: We are also very happy to work with Intel in planning for the Intel Atom x3 processor support for Sailfish OS.Antti Saarnio,Co-founder and Chairman of the Board of Jolla

I think only x3 has LTE/3G inside the SoC.

vattuvarg ( 2015-03-05 21:08:44 +0300 )edit

@vattuvarg - But a tablet can do without LTE/3g, so its a valid demand. Atom processors are crap ... @raketti - Thanks for the update ... a bit disappointing, but I guess the partnership makes good business sense.

sifartech ( 2015-03-05 21:13:56 +0300 )edit

The most requested hardware for the current tablet is LTE/3G functionality.

I was guessing that a Mediatek SoC would be used for J2. Why would Intel's x3 be inferior?

vattuvarg ( 2015-03-05 21:23:02 +0300 )edit

@vattuvarg - I am guessing that they might be considering the x3 for the J2 phone rather than for Jtablet 2. Would make sense - Intel is desperate to gets its mobile processors out in the market, yet none of the major players are interested because they license and design their own ARM cpus. So intel's current game plan is to approach the small players, offer them subsidized price (even at a loss) along with reference designs (for phone or tablet) and thus try to buy its way into the market. Their desktop processors are hugely overpriced. And its only due to ARM, that mobile processors are cheap (and intel mobile processors near free). It is not in our (consumers) interest that Intel prevail, though the competition is welcome.
