hi! I really like the new sailfish meteo (weather) app, and I would like to start a discussion about some possible improvements.

1- humidity. humidity is an important factor and usually is shown in forecastings. Foreca provide it (visible in More information, drop down menu). why not take this data as well?

2- moon phase. when is night, meteo app shows the moon image. it would be nicer to have the half moon, full moon etc image in line with the current moon phase. for example, yesterday was full moon (and the meteo app of my girlfriend's android showed that...grrr!)

3.Weather details based on Current Location (as suggested in one of the below answers)

I would really appreciate the addition of a rain radar.

I have small UI suggestion. Right now, I think the wind direction indicator is quite ambiguous - at least I had difficulties interpreting the right direction (I had to check from a website to make sure I got it right...actually I got it wrong).

Thus I think a little tweak should be in order. I made a few quick sketches which, imho, convey the information unambiguously...maybe not as aesthetically pleasing.

Yes, totally agree, for now wind direction icon is really confusing.

I like the one in the middle, showing a clear arrow for "wind to", still being placed on "wind from" on the circle

Actually the first one is quite stylish and achieved easily by only flipping the present one inside. After all it would have saved me the headwind when I used the information for the very first time. :)

As a sailor, the term in use is SE winds, so the term is always 'from' but if arrows are used they show the direction so it is actually pointing in the wrong direction - I'd consider this a bug which might need an own question for reporting it

For me "MeeCast" has the better UI at the moment. But both have space for improvements... Info-apps should offer as much information as possible on ONE screen. For help about dense information layouts have a look at: http://www.hichert.com/downloads/media/broschueren/brochure_2008_en.pdf

What's about...

I agree. I found the forecast based on Foreca rather useless. It is always wrong in both Germany and Norway. Meecast has a better UI and provides much better results, at least in Norway (yr.no). Has this changed in release 2.0?

I don't even understand, why they spent any further effort in their own weather app. Imho there are much more important issues...

I would like the weather app to understand my location using gps and to show me the weather forecast based on my location automatically. This would be a great option for those traveling a lot as now you have to open the app and select location manually. Of course this option should be switchable to save battery life when you don't need it.

At least use satnav when adding a location.

Since one of the last updates (as of 2.0.0.10) there is no more wind direction available. I would like to have that back.

?? I still have it (2.0.0.10). Just like before.

Not in events view and not in weather app either. Will provide a screenshot

lakutalo ( 2015-10-27 14:49:52 +0300 )edit

Not in the events view, yes. Was it there before? In the Weather app, when I tap on a location, I see the wind direction also. Not in the overview which shows all locations.

ssahla ( 2015-10-27 14:52:43 +0300 )edit

I think it was there before, but my brain's under heavy artillery. At least I could see the wind direction when tapping on my city. That's gone. edit: Not inside weather app, but earlier when you tapped on the city in events view, you came directly to weather app. This doesn't work anymore. Can you confirm?

I think you could open the Weather app from the old widget via context menu. But I'm not sure how it was.

I definitely wouldn't mind having a jump from the events view to the app.

as requested here https://together.jolla.com/question/119579/open-weather-app-from-events-view-widget/@coderus: long-tapping does nothing on my version, or what did you mean?
