Most of the time when I close the browser, it's because I'm done and no longer wish to view any of the open tabs. The current implementation stores all open tabs and restores them when I open the browser. I then have to wait for all tabs to load before opening a new page, or close all tabs myself while they're loading. Please add an option to the browser to start without previously open tabs.

As an option this would be nice. Though keeping the tabs open is a nice back up in case the browser should crash.

about:newtab also would be nice, or whatever the favourites page is called, so I could use it as start page.

yah, so many times have i opened the browser, started typing what i want and then it fills the url field with previously open tab all of a sudden.

@Tobbe - isn't that a normal browser behaviour? If crash-close then preserve tabs and if normal-close then forget tabs. :) Or that's how I've always thought browsers should work. :P

@eson - if you make your homepage (in settings) about:blank you get the blank/favourites page. However, you need to get focus to the title/search in order to wake up the bookmarks. So maybe just adding autofocus to the search bar as an option - although this would annoy people because the VKB would pop up.. Hmm.. Jolla needs to implement about:bookmarks :P

@raketti Nope, already tried that. Can't even enter about:blank in settings... and there don't seem to be one.

@eson - That seems weird, because for me about:blank looks like this and when I click the search bar it opens the bookmarks like this.

Have you tried leaving the home page blank in settings?

raketti ( 2015-03-08 17:41:26 +0300 )edit

@raketti You're right, leaving it blank does work like you said. Well, as a work around, that will have to do for now.

@eson - glad to hear at least that works. On a completely off topic kind of thing, found when setting about:home shows a nice easter egg page. :)

Remembering and open the last opened tabs is actually is really a good thing, because you can start immediately were you stopped last time. This is the default behaviour for Epiphany and I always set this for Firefox too.

@hoschi - again, there are users who prefer another kind of behaviour in their browsers. I for one always want to start from a clean slate, mainly because start up time is faster. If I want to look at something later, I bookmark it. ;)

@raketti - Haha, true story. :)

Yeah, I changed the title, because I thaught this was more self explaining, but yeah, either way is good for me ;-)

oh, sorry, I didn't get what you meant at first. Yeah, guess that's an option, but I'd rather have it happen automatically

If you surf in private the tabs closes when you close the browser.

yes, but when I open it again it still loads a page (home). I don't want the browser to load anything

Haven't tried it myself, but what if you the start page URL from settings?
