Hello sailors,

I am using Telegram for messenging but unfortunately I do not receive notifications unless the program is running. Is there a possibility to create a task or something to check telegram in a regular cycle for new messages? I have been searching for a long time but I have not found an answer. Could you please help me?

Thanks a lot in advance. BR

No, you'll need to use Jollagram (warehouse), but it doesn't have much features and it's buggy. :l

Thanks, this sounds ok for me. I only found Jollagram in the web for download. Can I load it in a store, too? I only know Jolla store, aptoid and yandex. And there is no Jollagram. :( Thanks for your apreciation.

Install warehouse application to manage untrusted / unofficial apps that are not yet in store. Openrepos has packages for various tweaks. Usual caveat of install at your one risk applies.

Is Jollagram opensource?

Or you can install and use SailorGarm (https://openrepos.net/content/dax/sailorgram), it is OpenSource and this is a native (but unofficial) app for SailfishOS. It as almost all Telegram features and a daemon which runs in background and notify you on message ;)

Sailorgram still can't access my synced contacts that are maintained in my mailaccount.

The best way for me at the moment to use Telegram is in fact the Android app (I have installed it via F-Droid). To allow Telegram to get messages even when Telegram is not open is to allow Telegram to start a background service. See this: https://jolla.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/203442828#4.

Edit: The only problem is, that Telegram can't use Google Push-Services, so it may take a few minutes for messages to arrive.

@Nagua, any workaround for when even dalvik is turned off? Though I use Sailorgram, it's not very reliable in terms of notificaitons.

What do you mean with turned off? You mean that you don't start dalvic with device boot? Or do you mean that dalvic gets killed?

Nagua ( 2016-09-27 18:36:24 +0300 )edit

@Satvik Chaudhary : Android apps and notifications from Android apps only work with Alien Dalvik running.

molan ( 2016-09-27 18:59:49 +0300 )edit

I have dalvic always running. I have enabled the start dalvic with boot option. And I also have Telegram open most of the time.

At the moment I have problems with Sailorgram for Jolla C. In Jolla-1 Sailorgram 0.82 works fine. I am using Zedge from Aptoide to enable notificationalarms for both Whatsapp and Telegram (Android apps) in the background operation. Pls note that Sailorgram can not automatically import contact data itself, but it need support from Telegram account as Android version at the moment.

you need.the android apps notifications patch from schturman and you need to ask him to include Telegramm. sailorgram is a goog native alternative. only stuff like invite contacts etc. is missing. for daily messaging its complete

Actually Telegram works without Schturman's Patch. You just need to enable background activity (via Settings/Apps/Telegram) and enable Alien Dalvik at startup.

I can confirm that the Android App is working excellet with activated background activity. Threreis no need to keep it open on the Homescreen.

Yes, it should work without my app, because it already here in androidnotificstionpriorities file. Just apply run in background from Setting app.
