Adding telephone number to contact from facebook doesn't show up in Whatsapp

When I add a telephone number in the native Sailfish People list to an existing contact that originally got in there through facebook syncing, then that contact will not show up in Whatsapp (Android Application) in the visible contact list with which I can message.
When I create a new contact in the People list for this particular number then it works flawlessly : the contact is immediately visible within Whatsapp and I can communicate just fine.
People app has a collection of local contacts as well as contacts imported from your social media accounts. It is important to understand that imported contacts from those accounts come with certain permissions from those providers, in other words you are NOT the owner of those contacts, and that's why People app cannot change them(?) I am not sure if WA can only see local contacts or all contacts either. Personally, I would like as an owner of my local contacts to have more control of what apps and services can access.
