I think the TOH functionality is still not enough used and also from Jolla not propagated enough. For me the advantages are huge if you look at the current market of mobile phones. Therefore I think it would be nice to have a configurator for EXISTING and also new OHs. I would like to connect as many useful details to my OH as possible. For example:

  • setting display brightness to a certain level or turn it off
  • changing bluetooth,wlan, ... state
  • reuse OH sounds with other TOHs (if allowed)
  • maybe changing some system defaults like browser etc.
  • start certain apps automatically, like a fitness app because I use this certain OH for jogging, or start the media player...

I'm sure we will find hundreds of possible combinations/uses if we would have a Configuration screen for our OHs.

Feel free to add other ideas in comments I would update then the opening post.

so like having an OtherHalf condition in Situations.

maybe..never have used situations... but I would like it to be a system default not an app from 3rd party developers

I think it's ambiences that should have control over these things – communication toggles, brightness, autostart app when changing ambience, etc. – and then the user should have the possibility to tie a TOH to a certain ambience. That way you would get the functionality you're requesting, and also those users with only one TOH – like me :) – would benefit.

yes could be realized there too. But the possibilities could go further than just ambiences. I would connect the settings to a specific OH ID to make sure I can also still chance the ambience without loosing all other settings

How many times are the TOH's designed to be removed and replaced by another one? I'd be interested to know how many times this was tested before problems occurred with the TOH being held in place correctly.

Sadly the idea of TOH seems to fade away even in our community and the newer device don't support this idea. It is basically outdated, so I think we can close this thread... Still sad though what a great chance has not been used to become more unlike in this phone market...

'til the next jolla phone comes with toh. you're on a bad mood? FP seems to have a similar toh system ;-)
you're action has the benefit to bring your thread on the surface, didn't saw it before . and give an upvote, afterwards. is that bad?

No no.. I would love to have the idea live on but I guess the next TOH idea will be sth different from what we have now... So my thread will be not anymore relevant...

maybe, maybe not... wait & see but this one that we have, with this type of use described above, is great.
But with not so much device sold, there is not so much people who have a real interest on it i think.
and the tablet gate made it worse.
the jolla c is for dev and people who have no interest on toh. and is cheaper for this.

well if the need is there to reopen the thread we can still do..I still think that the TOH configurator should be there today... but if no one really cares....

@PatsJolla, the concept of TOH has not been buried officially, so it's still a valid question.
