I've been struggling to get this to work and tried many players from the different stores. Apollo, Rocket Player, Shuttle, Poweramp and so on. There is always some problem with getting my music from the SD card to play. Either no music is shown at all or it's shown but all of the artists are listed as "Unknown artist".

What kind of solution do you use to play music on your Jolla phone? Is there a Android player that does work? I know I can use native players but they're buggy or lacking many features that I need. Many Android apps do have the features I need but I can't get them to work.

Does it have to be Android? Have you already tried Quasar MX?

Yes, I bought Quasar MX and I don't like the way you browse your music in that app. And there are a few bugs that annoy me. It seems like the devs have abandoned the app so I doubt it will get any more updates or bugfixes. I figured I could get one of the popular Android music players since they got what I need but apparently there's issues with them as well on a Jolla phone.

Hey, still no solution here? I tried a couple of players, they can access only android_storage folder, but all my music is stored on SD card. At the same time some others Android apps are able to see content outside android_storage.

You know, it would help if you told us which features you need.

I use the Music Player (not Music player!) from Aptoide. It plays all the music from my SD card, no screenlock when playing music - you can set the lock off and many other stuff.

Soooooo bad, it doesn't work anymore :( Don't know why. When I browse my sd-card with Filecase all music files are still there and the internal media-playere can play them without any problems but the app Music Player doesn't find them anymore. Restarting the phone and removing/putiing back the sd-card makes no difference.

I use the native music app but you can use VLC android app. Nighlies are available online. You may need to move the songs to /home/nemo/android_storage/Music/ .Alternatively you can install a file explorer like ES Explorer (Proprietary) or Ghost Commander (Libre Software) but that might not have advanced functions.
