Getting calendar alarm from missing event

I am syncing an Owncloud (7.0.4) calendar with a 1.1.2.16 Jolla via CalDAV. There is one main calendar and several shared calendars. So far everything went fine.

Today, I could not see the items (todays and future) from one of the shared calendars anymore, but I still got a notification for the one event I had in this shared calendar for today. The shared calendar in question was checked for sync in CalDAV Settings.

So the event must have been somewhere on the phone, but was not shown in the calendar although it was checked for display in "Manage calendars".

After I touched the event (in fact the series it belonged to) in another CalDAV client on another machine, it reappeared in the calendar app.

I acknowledge that CalDAV services are in experimental stage and as much as I appreciate the approach to implement these standards I would like to emphasize that a calendar you cannot fully trust is a somewhat problematic feature.

It may help to add a bit of GUI-verbosity to the snyc features, at least at this stage.

I have a similar problem, described here: https://together.jolla.com/question/85482/invisible-task-making-unwanted-noise/ Only that in my case it's a task collection synchronized via CalDAV and the tasks are never ever shown (maybe due to the fact that they don't have timespans a calendar event normally has). Still I get alarms for the tasks.

This is interesting, as the client does not support tasks yet. In my experience a lot is depending on the server-client-combination. And since you mentioned Open-Xchange and there is an exchange-client available, did you test that?

Also there has been some work on CalDAV but it didn't make it into 1.1.2.16, as mentioned here: https://together.jolla.com/question/81694/bug-caldav-sync-stops-working-every-now-and-then/

Yes, it is really interesting :-) I tried the Active Sync Exchange client with my Mailbox.org account (based on Open-Xchange) but it doesn't really work well when I want to sync everything (meaning mails, contacts and calendars). Currently I only sync contacts and mail via Active Sync, the calendars are synced with separate CalDAV accounts. With Active Sync I can't sync tasks at all - which seems to be ok, if Sailfish OS doesn't support them in the first place.

Hope that the next OS iteration brings some relief to the most unreliable CalDAV implementation.
