Bug: Keyboard hidden after moving text cursor in android apps

I am somewhat annoyed by this behavior when editing text in android applications:

  1. Suppose you would like to insert text into a text field which has some text already.
  2. You tap the spot at which you would like to insert text.
  3. The keyboard appears, but you notice you missed the text insertion spot by a character or two.
  4. You use the text selection handle to move the cursor to the right place.
  5. Just when you moved the cursor to the right place and let go off the handle, the keyboard disappears, so you cannot insert text! Argh!!!
  6. In order to make the keyboard re-appear, you have to tap the exact same spot again where the cursor already is.

100% reproducible.

Do you mean with the selection handle this blue "arrow" that you can use in android phones? somehow I never manage to grab it and move it.. I simply tab until I reached the exact spot. Annoying but I still hope for more native apps to be more independent from android.

Yep, that's the one. If you select text, you'll notice the handle will spread into two halfs. For me, it's much easier to drag the handle to move the cursor than to try to hit the right spot. Just now having this very problem again while editing this text using opera...
