Hello guys...

Even if i'm posting this a 1st april this is not an april fool, i really want to make it happen. Well,I am a game developper that really like to use unreal engine and i work on Gentoo with the linux editor... And if you did not know this linux port of the UE4 editor was partially made by the open community since the code is open on github. Second thing, after talking a little bit on #ue4linux on freenode i discover that the linux port does not support only X11 but also wayland. Third thing the minimal version of opengles needed to make unreal 4 work on a mobile is opengles2.0 which is already supported on the jollaphone... i've also try the tappy chicken apk to test if there is some performance issue and it work surprisingly well ! Fourth thing aparently unreal engine use sdl as a layer for the window system and as you should know sdl already work well on sailfish...

All those things make me think: this is possible to make it happen !

Why is it so important? I think make it happen will pop a beautifull article on unrealengine.com which is an incredible way to show this sailfish exist and how awesome is our community ! The second thing to concider is having a big engine like this will help to have much better and well finished native game on the store... and because the portability is at 1click some studio can make the portability just because it's damn easy !

Now you know that is possible but I have some problems. First I really lack of time. Second I don't know how work sailfish deeply and I've tried QT and wayland only a few hours. I use it as a power mobile user (ssh and other dbus tricks...). I also know how tu USE unreal but I don't know it's code, I just know it's general architecture. So I can't do this alone...

So what I want is to create an incredible team of smart people from both sailfish and unreal community to make this happen ! I love so much those two community <3

I think you better ask for help in IRC and on the dev mailing list. More tech people there than in TJC.

I will soon on IRC but the problem with IRC that if the "smart developer" is not here at the good time he will never see this... The second big advantage of TJC is non subscribed guy can easily see this... That's why I begin from here
