Dear Jolla users/supporters/fans, since we are still expecting new phone to appear, I think it is time to indicate to Jolla what we really expect from a Jolla 2 Smartphone, now, in Spring 2015. The poll will contain just a hardware wish list. Software, as you know, can be changed on the fly and for it we have releases. Hardware is a monolith piece of equipment and all ideas should be consolidated on one place. This is the reason I am making this poll now.

Each possible, important, major entry, will be a separate answer. It will contain general description of the feature and we vote on it. If you want to further specify it - extend it, explain why it is important to have (or not) please create a comment under the question. The comment can be voted on too.

Please check the existing features (answers) before creating a new one, to concentrate the poll and make it useful and relevant. Please also do not put negative votes - instead create another entry (answer) with the technology you want. Keep comments outside of answers, in Comments only.

duplicate as basically every tjc entry is a poll already https://together.jolla.com/question/19564/jolla-2nd-device-hw-suggestions/

Chemist, this is NOT a duplicate. It is a better, properly structured poll, such did not exist so far. The one you are referring to is messy and disorganised, outdated.

Jose, please remove your comment, it spams the poll. Most of the points you raise are included in the poll. Feel free to add some, if not there. But such big opinions are not useful to the poll, as they make it unreadable.

@Atanas I second @chemist, yet I like your approach. Perhaps this thread has a good reason to co-exist.

@Atanas: As @chemist pointed earlier, this poll is an exact duplicate of: https://together.jolla.com/question/19564/jolla-2nd-device-hw-suggestions/ IMHO, the right thing is to set is as a duplicate and point to the original so users can cast their votes and comment there. If you feel like the original lacks structure and isn't organised to your liking, it's best to check with the originator and evaluate what can be done to improve. I can only support @chemist in his trial to find the proper way to solve this, and I fail to find anything inappropriate in how he tried to steer the discussion towards a resolution. So this is a duplicate that is to be closed as such and anyone willing to contribute is advised to use the initial poll, thanks!

@Erik: I acknowledge your point I was not able to keep this poll clean either - I lacked the privileges and means. For personal reasons also have not had the time. But there should not have been any need to maintain a poll if it was designed in a proper way. I hope you realise the root problem lies here, in initial design. I also understand @chemist's effort to keep order but he ought to have understood the real problem and be more supportive than just closing this without notice and discussion.

The real issue is that TJC is not designed and prepared to be used for polls. What I mean:

  1. The layout is not optimal, there are big unused parts of the sections for comments/entries. This wastes the space and allows just for few entries per page. Users don't like switching pages but prefer having all on one page in consistent and concise form.
  2. You treat polls as any other idea/entry. Soon they get pushed back to the back pages and are not seen by users on the front page (see end of point 1). If you want to allow users to make relevant and useful polls, you should reconsider this and either keep them on the front page or have separate section referred to on the front page.
  3. Polls are important and Jolla should be reading and supporting them if the have learnt Nokia' lesson (ignoring, betraying users and developers, killing all initiatives of the community). If users feel involved and heard they will be loyal to the company. If not, they will just move elsewhere, the choice is big.

All questions are polls, each item can be setup as an own question and be polled that way - it works for so many things here, why do you believe it is required your way?

chemist ( 2015-06-10 02:46:23 +0300 )edit

Simply because such polls are focused on a set of features grouped in a topic (e.g. Jolla2 Phone). They are multi-entry and multi-user (many users put separate entries) therefore they should have bigger weight and importance than a single one.

Atanas ( 2015-06-10 10:17:43 +0300 )edit

But askbot is not meant to be a poll-in-a-poll, sorting by tags and then by votes gives you exactly what you want - with those stupid multi-poll-polling questions that destroy your sheet... you are still on "your way", Jolla had this website setup to have a permanent polling with questions being voted on and with tagging to sort them, now you come by and say there has to be a poll in a poll, I start to feel stupid explaining this over and over again

chemist ( 2015-06-10 11:34:50 +0300 )edit

@chemist, I see no sense to continue this debate with you, your view is too short-sighted to see the truth and you start behaving quite primitively and arrogant, again. You either have problem controlling your emotions or you are aged 15. Whatever. You just fail to understand that this is far from being user friendly (talk about GUI, not you) and is source of all those duplicates, semi-duplicates and general sense of mess. The polls that focus on strategy, ideas, future hardware design can't be single entry, and they are too important for users (and hopefully Jolla) to let them disappear under a pile of individual questions. I will say no more, if someone gets the message, great, if not - also informative.

SailorofBerlin , this is USB related. We have USB OTG option, would be better if you move this as a comment under it. I am not a mod and can't do it. We need to keep this small.

At least 10 4g LTE bands for global support.

It seems that the Intel x3-c3440 has global LTE support. ...but probably not support for every system out there.

USB 3. When you start dealing with very large flash memories and multi GB data transfers USB 2 just isn't fast enough.

USB 3 Type C may become the standard so hoping on the bandwagon could be an option
