I have 2 android application that are not able to use gps location. it was working ok, but now facebook closes, and other apps just sit and wait for the location to be received

Edit: bringing this up for checking after 1.0.3.8. update. I found a few apps capable to reach location data (unlike before) after the update, could you check your Android apps and give a feedback?

Edit: tested GPS is working ok for me at the moment within android apps

Navfree gives the about the right location, but not the compass reading (freezing into crossings, map going around, throwing the car to closebuy roads)

Z-test gives readings, but I can't run the GPS test included in it

Facebook asks to "Enable wireless networks" but seems to find he closest places

Which two Android apps fail?

facebook closes - however it looks to be a problem with AGPS - network was not providing location and the app just closes. looks to be working ok now

Does anyone know should it work with Untappd's Android app? I have zero success while trying get the location in the app and I have tried rebooting etc.

I've successfully used Runkeeper, it is very slow in picking up the first location but after that it works reasonably well.

After the latest updates, all my Android apps seems to use GPS correctly. Last bug was with NavFree, pointing mostly to the North, but during my last two drivings even the direction stayed as correct. Fixed?

Are you sure that true GPS works in Android support? I am not.

I have tried 5 Android apps on Sailfish, all with very mixed results.

1) The REGA app (Swiss Helicopter Rescue service). This app starts, can send the help me SMS, but cannot activate GPS or find a location. Does not start GPS (error unsupported action).

2) GPS Essentials: Exits on startup with an error message to screen

2) GPS Status: Exits on startup with no error message to screen

3) Gps Status: (same name, different app) Starts up, and shows accurate GPS coords straight away, even before the Jolla GPS search icon starts flashing.

4) NaviFree: Starts up and displays reasonably accurate location on map, but displays no coords. Does start GPS.

5) Osmand: Starts up, and just like 3) and 4) gives reasonably accurate location on map before the GPS apparently has a fix (icon still flashing).

From the combined behaviours of these 4 apps I strongly suspect that the location for 3), 4) and 5) comes from the A part of A-GPS or from a previously stored fix, and not from a true fix by the GPS itself.

I am in the middle of porting my own Harmattan GPS Emergency app to Sailfish (Native), so it will be interesting to see how that compares. I will report back when I get it working.

@skrokhmal: Could you confirm with exactlywhich apps it works for you?

It definitely works for me with OsmAnd. I had a trip abroad with no data roaming and used the navigation extensively.

Also works for me for Osmand and Ingress. Also the compass works.

Try reinstalling Android Support from Jolla Store, helped me with Android app network connection problems.

Once my Android navi app had problems: Rebooting the Jolla fixed the problem. Already tried?

(In general: Android apps can access the GPS.)

I had even attempted to reset the device to fix this, however did not work. Jolla native maps application gets the location ok, however android apps fail to...
