Hi folks,

I just set up my first email account via system -> accounts ->general email -> manual and got it running ok. I checked via Mail App, I can access my Inbox correctly.

Next thing I wanted to send a picture from the gallery via this account then I get following message:

"No accounts available for sending emails - Please configure your accounts in Settings | Accounts"

I'm running 1.1.2.16 Yliaavanlampi..

Sounds like the smtp part of the account didn't get set up correctly. If you go back into the mail account settings and cannot find the option to add/edit any outgoing mail servers, then delete the account and start again.

I noticed if I couldn't get my smtp settings to work, the mail account can still be configured but of course, will only be able to receive.

OK you're right, I can't send mail from mail app either, and there is no smtp server entry in the account settings (although I manually entered the SMTP details).

So this seems to be related to "cannot open email server settings after misconfiguring smtp server" which was marked as "released in an update" in December 2014.

The difference to my bug is that I used the manual setup (because the manual setup failed completely) so now I can access / edit my IMAP settings, but the outgoing server (SMTP) settings I entered are gone and inaccessible - so still a bug but maybe I have to change the title?!

One thing is that there is no error message when manual SMTP setup fails, and the other is there is no possibility to re-edit the settings.

It sounds like the same problem, I've had when I set up my first mail account -> receiving mails was possible, sending mails not. Perhaps you try the same as me described in this post: https://together.jolla.com/question/88546/cant-create-and-send-mail/

When I set up another mail account, it was able to select one of them as default mail account for sending mails. Perhaps a work-around, but it works :-)

Thanks for your answer Mannix,

I had already set up another mail account in the meantime, and deleted it again without setting a default account.

In my case it really was a fault in the smtp settings that led to the bug described in my comment above. Now that I reset this particular account (using SSL instead of TLS, this was my mistake) I can access outging server settings as well as send mail the way it should be. I'll close this thread and do some further testing on the bug mentioned in my comment instead.

edit: would someone else please close this question as I can't close my own yet?
