Microphone doesn't work, except during calls

If I record video on camera, or use a recording software such as TwoTrack or Simple Recorder, no audio is being received. Hopefully someone has had the same and found a fix.
The same happens when I switch to the loud speaker while talking on the phone, the other person can't hear me at all.
As such, considering that I can have normal phone calls with anybody, it seems like a software malfunction.
Am I right? What could be the cause of this?
