low-power-mode Glace Screen is a cool feature, but will it work in the 2.0 release? There are a lot of architecture and design changes.

I would be pleased it it will by stay in the future development and be intigated by default or an Option Settings > System > Display, so all useres can see these cool feature

And no higher power consumption noticeable

Check this out to see what i mean:

[edit] Updated to the question: Will it work with SailfishOS Ver 2.0 and higher

[edit] After Update to 1.1.9.28 - LPM stoped working!

mce-tools-1.52.2-1.47.1 could´t be offered

[edit] Strange, after reboot it still works, but can it be enabled after upgrade to 1.1.9.28? Coul´t some one test it who did not install mce-tools before?

It's working so good on our families' two Jollas, this should be enabled by default for the phone...

Works fine for me after update to 1.1.9.28. Just a little different layout.

...and as is pointed out in that thread, it really wouldn't be a "low power" mode since there are no Sailfish devices with AMOLED screens. Yes, it was a good feature on the N9, but at present it makes no sense voting for this. And for those who want to mimic the behavior of the N9 (without the power savings) there's already a patch for patchmanager.

@evo3de SailfishOS 2.0 is not a new from scratch OS, it is the evolution from 1.x UI to 2.x UI, the system stays the same. Just like making Sailfish "stable" did not make it stable, it was just called that way, so is 2.0 it is called 2.0 to reflect the major change in the UI nothing else. So unless you are about already known features of 2.0 UI all feature requests are for SailfishOS (without a version) - so indeed this is a duplicate. Asking "Will it work in 1.1.6" is just the same as asking for 2.0.

so do you think.. i think it´s an hidden feature and some developers didn´t care about what will happens if the UI architecture is changed. It´s like the loosing of the FB contact data that will come in the next Update. Or the swipe 2 close / swipe 2 lock feature. Nobody cares about if nobody say befor: "Hey please wait, i don´t like this way" - So what, it´s like Don Quijote and his windmill

There are a lot of reasons why certain features haven't been enabled. And this topic has already been discussed, so why not continue it there? As @chemist stated, there's no difference under the hood in 1.X and 2.0 - the same features exists, at least I think they will. IMHO this feature has not been enabled by default because Jolla might have thought it consumes battery due to the type of display used - now that it has been tested by various users there's a better chance that it will be enabled at some point. But, that doesn't mean this is not a duplicate - it still is. So regarding LPM, plese go here.

Duplicate of https://together.jolla.com/question/937/glance-screen-partially-implemented/

Regarding OS 2.0 update the above question itself. No need to create new one, i suppose.

https://openrepos.net/content/coderus/patch-add-sneak-peak-option-display-settings Thanks to @coderus for creating the patch making it a configurable option in UI under Settings >> Display

Requires patch manager and comes with standard caveat that install at your Own Risk..
