Often when I use the bottom pulley in Music Player, I inadvertently change the track position in the above slider. Try it :)

This needs to be changed, IMO. Any suggestions on how it could be be implemented?

Get used to where the controls are? Learn to pull straight? Aim for the Pause key to pull and you are good to go.

Yeah pulling up where the pause key is wont trigger it, only tapping it will. So there is plenty of space :)

that's not like you @chemist, you know having to aim carefully is poor usability :P

You do not need to aim carefully, sloppy aim for the pause key is enough - I would never suggest a precision gesture on such task you are right! And as I do not care enough about the slider, I do not trigger it, I just use the full surface of my thumb on the bottom part and pull up - works for 17 months now... to care to much is probably the problem, as soon as you think about not touching the slider you get to precise and trigger the slider as you get slow, quick coarse movement would probably never trigger a button or the slider

There are multiple available options for music players anyway, so if you don't like the Jolla developed one then you can use something else.

(this non answer will stop questions piling up in the unanswered section)

have a look at the Jolla design philosophy: https://blog.jolla.com/design-insights-sailfish-os/

  • Simple
  • Aesthetic
  • Natural
  • Magical
  • Holistic

'usability' isn't our main focus.

You should practice using the tutorial app until you learn to do the gestures as rest of the community does, without any problems at all.

also which other platform releases monthly UI updates? (with a team of ~100)

I would rather wait for an answer from Jolla UI team..
